SR plans modern railway station in Bangalore

By A Business Correspondent

Southern Railway plans to develop a state-of-the-art railway station-hotel-shopping mall complex at the site of the old Bangalore MG Railway station. The project would be developed over an area of 24,000 sq. mt on BOT basis. The Railways will provide the private developer with the required land as its contribution of the project investment. The investor will be required to develop the railway station building, including concourse, booking offices, waiting rooms, cafeteria and railway offices of limited floor area. A commercial complex, including shopping mall, rental accommodation for travel establishments, hotel and two-tier car-parking facilities, would be built as part of the project.

The Railways is open to new innovative schemes of profit sharing and will discuss the same with the developer on a one-to-one basis.
