Two NH projects in Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu Road Development Company Ltd is the nodal agency set up by the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Ltd and IL&FS on equal partnership to develop and implement road projects in the state, under public-private initiative.
Following its success in implementing the toll-based East Coast Road Project, the Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has entrusted it with the task of executing two National Highways in the state. The 54-km long Dindigul-Palani Road on NH-209 and the 134-km Salem-Ullundurpet Road on NH-68 will be improved in stretches.
Work will involve widening of the road, improvement to the existing road, embankment repairs, setting up road furniture, construction of bus bays, passenger shelters and toll plaza. Private developers would have to maintain the road for five years.
