Repairs to Lower Jehlum Power on schedule
Repair work on Lower Jehlum Hydel Power is progressing well and is expected to be completed in the next five months. Seven pillars in the fore bay of the power project recently collapsed and as a result power generation at the unit came to a grinding halt. Lower Jehlum Hydel station, which was commissioned in 1978, consists of three power units of 35 mw each. Along with repair work, overhauling of the second unit of power station is also being carried out under the supervision of BHEL Ltd. The cost of overhauling is estimated to be Rs 7 crore.
