Global conference on smart materials, structures and systems
The goal of the International Conference on Smart materials, Structures and Systems [Bangalore, July 17-19], the third in the series, sponsored by the Institute of Smart Structures and Systems, India, and the International Society for Optical Engineering, US, is to provide a forum for exchange of ideas, concepts and techniques towards the development of smart technology. The conference will address various issues in sensing, signal processing, control, data processing, material technology and instrumentation with emphasis on practical applications in aerospace, marine, civil, mechanical and other engineering disciplines.
The topics to be covered are:
Smart materials: Piezo ceramics, magnetostrictive and electrostrictive materials, shape memory alloys, electrochromic materials, chiral materials, electroactive polymers, ER and MR fluids, tunable dielectrics, conductive polymers, fibre optics, materials for micro fluidics and micro power systems, self-forming, self-sensing and self repairing materials, and processing and characterisation.
Modelling, design and simulation: Modelling and micro mechanics of smart materials, modelling of engineered smart components, modelling and design of sensors and actuators, CAD platforms for smart systems and integration.
Smart sensors, smart actuators and smart systems: MEMS, MOEMS, BIOMEMS, RF MEMS, micro-components, optical fibers and Bragg gratings for civil structures, aerospace, and biomedical applications and fabrication techniques.
