Towards a cleaner Yamuna

The Tata Energy Research Institute is organising a workshop on "Towards a cleaner Yamuna" [New Delhi, June 24] in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests with the following specific objectives: exchange information on recent developments, successes, and challenges in reducing the impact and associated burden of pollutant loads arising from domestic/municipal and industrial sectors; strengthen commitments of various stakeholders to addressing the issues and implementing mitigation measures; and, facilitate future action programmes. The focus of the workshop is on technological, institutional and policy analysis and recommendations.
More importantly, the workshop will come up with a road map for transferring measures and solutions that are thought to be more practical and visible for future application. The question is: What needs to be done now? The workshop aims to set a path towards a cleaner Yamuna.
