Conference Note on seminar on Steel and Composite Bridges

The Indian Institution of Bridge Engineers has come out with a conference note on the International Seminar on Steel and Composite Bridges held in Mumbai on April 26-27, 2002. Published in three volumes, the seminar documentation contains many case studies, innovative solutions and new ideas on the subject.
IIBE is an institution dedicated to the art and science of bridge engineering. The main objective of this institution is to spread and disseminate knowledge and information about all aspects of bridge engineering. The institution performs this task mainly through seminars organised regularly.
Steel and composite bridges have certain advantages over concrete bridges like much-less dead load, better capacity to take impact and also to stand up to large seismic loads. Further, these bridges are more durable and existing steel bridges stand testimony to this fact. Recent advancement in steel making process and abundant supply of steel have nullified whatever negative arguments one may have against these bridges.

The conference note contains articles which are technical in nature and are useful for those in the construction industry. Priced at Rs 800 the three-volume book is available at Indian Institution of Bridge Engineers, 9, Ground Floor, Greenfield CHS, Off Sitladevi Temple Road, Mahim, Mumbai-400016.
