Cement output up

Cement production during April 2002 touched 9.42 million tones up by 10.56% as compared to April 2001. Despatches during the same period went up by 11.5% tot ouch 9.58 million tones. Further closing stock of cement in April came down to 0.95 million tones as against 1.08 million tones in April 2001. During the same period export of cement and clinker inched upto 0.47 million tones from 0.46 million tones. The consumption of cement was the highest in the southern region at 2.64 million tones during the month.
