KSB Pumps Ltd, incorporated in 1960 by KSB Germany, one of the largest pump manufacturers in the world, is viewed as a "one-stop technology shop" for the pump industry. The company produces a wide range of submersible pumps for use in irrigation, water supply and sewage. The company also manufactures horizontal pumps for use in chemical, petrochemical, fertilisers, power and other process industry. Besides, KSB manufactures industrial valves and castings. It enjoys a market share of around 20 per cent.
The company, which has a 3,000-strong dealership network, plans to introduce new products as a part of its future plans, which include indigenisation of wearing ring material used in high pressure boiler feed pumps, development of new vertical oil pump, and additional sizes to complete the range for chemical industry application.
The company, whose main shareholder (40 per cent) is Canadian Kay Pump Ltd, one of its technical collaborators, achieved Rs 7.03 crore net profit in December 31, 2001, as against a net profit of Rs 8.3 crore for the financial year ended March 31, 2001. Exports during the period were Rs 20.3 crore. The main products exported by the company are water, multi-stage and coolant pumps.
