Reconstruction Project in Afghanistan
The Afghanistan Interim Administration is undertaking the Emergency Infrastructure Reconstruction Project with financial aid of $3.5 crore from the IDA. The project will undertake the most urgent reconstruction in urban infrastructure, energy, mining, communications and transport sectors. It would also require policy advice and engineering support. Specifically, it will soon invite tenders for supply of pipes - GI or plastic water supply pipes, submersible pumps, household water meters, chlorinators, contractors for installation of water pumps, drilling of bore wells, installation of pipe fitting meters and general small civil works; engineering support to carry out construction supervision; equipment like drills, welding equipment; and, recommissioning of gas turbine.
Saudi Rail seeks contractors
Saudi Railways Organisation has invited prequalification bids for a five-year contract to maintain its fleet of 59 diesel-electric locomotives.
Nigeria, Sao Tome to offer blocks
The Governments of Nigeria and Sao Tome plan to offer exploration blocks in the offshore Joint Development Authority shared by the two in the second half of the year. About 20-25 blocks would be offered with water depths of about 2,000 metres.
Tender for oil blocks in Egypt
The Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation has issued a tender inviting E&P companies to develop oil and gas in the Gulf of Suez LL 87 Block 1 and 2 under the Production Sharing System of Agreements. An increasing number of international oil companies are looking to invest in the oil sector in Egypt, not only in traditional areas like the Delta, Gulf of Suez and Western Desert but also in the deep waters of the Mediterranean.
Road tender in Kenya
The Government of Kenyawill shortly issue a tender for the rehabilitation of the 131-km long Nairobi-Mombasa road in Nairobi, the capital city.
