Nabard, Hudco fund TN bridge projects

The Tamil Nadu state highways department is constructing a total of 107 bridges in the state with financial aid from Nabard and Hudco. Of these Nabard is financing 54 bridges and Hudco is funding 51 bridges. The remaining 2 bridges have been taken up under state government part II scheme.
The 107 bridge projects are spread across 17 packages and under the supervision of 10 consultants. Of these 81 bridges were commissioned and the balance 26 projects are in progress. Eleven of the projects funded by Nabard, where construction is currently on, include the districts of Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Coimbatore, Erode and Kanyakumari. These projects would cost Rs 32.88 crore.
Under Hudco, 14 projects costing Rs 70.59 crore are in progress in the districts of Kancheepuram, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Namakkal, Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli and Coimbatore. A bridge project is underway at Nagapattinam under state government part II scheme.
