Port sets two new records
Vizag Port, which emerged as the country's premier port in terms of throughput, has set two new records this month. While a record quantity of 1.14 lakh tonnes of crude oil was discharged within 24 hours from the vessel m.v. Gandhar on June 8, the highest quantity of 94,450 tonnes of CLO grade iron ore was loaded on to m.v. Spring Brave in 24 hours on June 9. This is the highest ever loaded in a day since the inception of the port's Ore Handling Complex in 1965.
