US firm to set up manufacturing unit

Pleased with its sales volumes in India, Sigma Aldrich, the US-based life sciences and chemicals major, plans to set up a manufacturing facility in Bangalore. The company, which has a warehousing facility and marketing set-up in the India, has around 80,000 chemical, biochemical and organic chemical products and kits used in scientific and genomic research, biotechnology, pharma development and chemical industry. With its own production unit in India, Sigma Aldrich perceives that local production and logistics would supplement the profitability.
The US company has a presence in 33 countries through 29 manufacturing plants.
