Pinhole detection by Porotest
Bombay Tools Supplying Agency is marketing the Porotest-DC from Elektro-Physik, Germany, which is a lightweight and handy holiday detector of its type. Porotest ensures that coatings on metal is free from pinholes and porosity. Porotest can be used for testing curved surfaces, pipes and pipelines, and products which are coated to withstand a highly corrosive environment like ships, cars, offshore and oil industries, steel construction and vessels where testing of insulating coatings applied to a conducive base (all metals and concrete) is required. This testing method allows instant repair of defects.
The instrument consists of the control unit and high voltage probe. As the test electrode is passed over the surface any defective spots are indicated visually by a spark and additionally by an acoustic signal. The Porotest-DC also has a built-in chart showing test voltage required for various coating thicknesses.
