Nalco production slips

Nalco produced 19,305 million tonnes of aluminum in May 2002, marginally below its target. Calcined alumina production was 118,800 mt below the target of 125,000 mt. Bauxite production fell 9 per cent short of the target. The total metal sale, including transfer to project during the month, was 17,543 mt, or 9.7 per cent below the target. Exports were, however, better. Alumina exports in May at 129,548 mt exceeded the target by 44 per cent. Aluminium exports were also better.
