TISCO 's Titanium Dioxide project in Tamil Nadu

Tata Steel is undertaking a techno-economic feasibility study for setting up a Titanium di-oxide project in Tamil Nadu. Four international consultants have been short listed for undertaking the job valued at Rs.16 crore.
A MoU for setting up the project has been entered into with Tamil Nadu Government. The entire project of separating rutile and illuminite from beach sand and processing the same for producing titanium dioxide, is expected to involve a capital investment of Rs.1800 crore. Titatium di-oxide is used extensively in the paint industry. This would be Tata Steel's first foray in the South.
