Machak sub-canal work to begin this year



Work on the Machak sub-canal in Khirkiya development block of Madhya Pradesh will commence during the current year. The entire project will be ready by March 31, 2005. An amount of Rs 7.89 crore out of the total estimated project cost of Rs 28.56 crore will be spent during the year. 
    Work on the project will commence soon after the technical approval is obtained. Invitation of tenders, acquisition of land, construction of temporary building, 20 per cent pucca works and 30 per cent earthworks would be completed during the year itself. Nearly 55 per cent of the payment for land acquisition would be made during 2002-03 while the balance amount would be paid in the next financial year. Nearly 46 per cent of the work would be completed in 2003-04 at a cost of Rs 13.21 crore. About 30 per cent pucca works and 40 per cent earthworks would be completed during this period. The final year of work will see an expenditure of Rs 7.46 crore. This will include 50 per cent pucca works, 30 per cent earthworks and cent per cent lining in important parts.
