Public works in Pimpri-Chinchwad
Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has prepared a proposal seeking a Rs 100 crore loan from the World Bank for water and drainage schemes and road development in the area. PCMC will also require Rs 20 crore to implement a slum development scheme. It has also proposed investment of Rs 15 crore for power generation through windmills. The loan is for a 25-year duration and at 6-7 per cent interest rate.
HPCL to build storage tanks
HPCL will set up three storage tanks in the south by the end of 2003 at a cost of Rs 32 crore. It is constructing one such 9,000-kilolitre tank for petrol at Ramagundam, AP, for Rs 10 crore. Another one is coming up at Ongole, also in AP, for a like amount. The depots will receive products from the Vizag refinery. The third will come up in Karur, TN, for Rs 12
crore.
Vallarpadam project awaits MoD nod
The Union Shipping Minister has approached the Defence Ministry for clearance of the Rs 2,000 crore Vallarpadam transshipment project at Kochi. The Southern Naval Command is situated close to the site though it does not fall in the funnel of the naval air station.
SEMEC to bring rig to Mumbai
South East Asia Marine Engineering & Construction has decided to exit from onshore drilling. It plans to dispose off its drilling rig lying idle since January 2001. The rig was earlier placed with Oil India Ltd. The company now plans to move the rig to Mumbai. It has three specialised vessels. Semac I and Semac II are placed on long-term hire with ONGC for oil field maintenance and support services at Mumbai High. The third vessel, Semac III, is deployed in the spot market.
SEZ proposed near Tuticorin Port
Tuticorin Port Trust is contemplating setting up a special economic zone on 1,200 acres of land adjoining the Tuticorin port.
