The Rs 5.6 crore Ukhrul water supply project in Manipur, which was nearing completion, has been reportedly stalled due to paucity of funds. A major portion of the pipe laying work in various villages in Ukhrul district has been completed and water reservoirs constructed. The project was sanctioned during President's Rule in the state.

Sewage project
Meanwhile, France is likely to assist in the implementation of the Imphal sewage project. The French Consulate has reportedly given an assurance to the government in this regard. A French team is expected to visit Imphal in September to assess the ground situation.
