Kesoram to focus on blended cement

By A Business Correspondent

Kesoram Cement Pvt. Ltd, one of the premium cement producers in Andhra Pradesh, will concentrate more on blended cement production as a strategic step to maintain profitability in the present market conditions, which is characterised by surplus capacity and the consequent pressure on prices. KCP operates a 5 lakh tonnes per annum cement plant at Macherla, near Guntur. Over 80 per cent of the company's production is marketed in the state, while the rest is sold in parts of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
Keeping in mind the market dynamics, KCL has introduced Portland Pozzalona cement under the Garuda brand with a blend of clinker and flyash. Flyash being a less expensive material reduces the cost of production. Apart from being eco-friendly, PPC finds application in majority of the construction activities where the ordinary Portland cement has been under use. In fact, the severe market competition has led to many companies in the state to go in for PPC in the recent past in view of the lower cost of production.
KCP feels it imperative that cost of production is maintained at the lowest by appropriate shift in production strategy and by absorbing energy efficient technology to keep pace with the latest plants.
