Bharati Shipyard to deliver wireline support vessel

By A Business Correspondent

Qatar Shipping (Q-Ship) Gene-ral Manager Nasser Al-Romaihi, who is also the Managing Director of HOSC, has gone on record saying: "Q-Ship was increasingly favouring Asian shipbuilders, including Indian and Korean firms, as they provided "value for money". The earlier trend was to go in for European or American shipbuilders whenever there was a necessity.
HOSC will procure a wireline support vessel sometime this November. The vessel, being built by India's Bharati Shipyard Ltd, will be used for maintenance support services to offshore platforms. The wireline support vessel would be used primarily for assisting Qatar Petroleum in servicing, repairing, and maintaining wellheads of oil wells and jackets in oilfields. It will have a steel hull powered by Wartsila engines with speeds up to 14 knots an hour.
