Tata Projects bags Ispat order
Tata Projects Ltd has bagged a turnkey contract valued at around Rs 123.7 crore from Ispat Energy Ltd. The latter has issued a Letter of Intent for execution of civil works, supply and erection of part balance of plant, and installation of boiler and turbine with auxiliaries for its 2x55 mw captive power plant at Dolvi in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra. Unit I of the project is to be completed in 14 months and Unit II in 16 months.
Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway soon
The work on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway may be completed soon. Phase I of the project, a 43-km stretch between Ahmedabad and Nadiad, is expected to be ready by this year-end while phase II of the stretch between Nadiad and Baroda would be completed by next year. The World Bank has sanctioned Rs 173 crore for this project. The initial cost of the project is estimated at Rs 740 crore. The travel time between Ahmedabad and Vadodara, presently three hours, will be reduced to two hours.
171 projects behind original schedule
In all 171 projects in India valued at Rs 20 crore and more are running behind their original schedule. The cost of these projects has increased by over 50 per cent from Rs 50,119 crore to Rs 78,685.5 crore. Union Minister of State for Statistics & Programme Implementation Vijay Goel told Parliament that 541 projects costing Rs 20 crore were being monitored by his ministry. Out of these 85 projects are ahead of schedule, 148 projects are on schedule, 81 projects do not have any definite date of commissioning and 56 projects do not have a firm completion date.
