Bangladesh roosts on Ramgarh port

By A Business Correspondent

The proposal for establishing the Ramgarh port in Ramgarh district of Bangladesh is gathering dust for the past six years. In mid-1996, the National Board of Revenue of Bangladesh published a list of 176 land ports to be set up to facilitate trade with Myanmar and India. The facilities at the Chittagong port were to be expanded and new ports were to be established between Sabrum in Tripura and Ramgarh in Khagrachhari. The move to set up this land customs port is also expected to provide Bangladesh with an additional revenue stream.
