World’s largest slurry pump?
Warman International, a part of the Weir Slurry Group, claims to have built the world’s largest, metal-lined slurry pump. The 750VK-SHD weighs more than 70 mt, sits on the largest drive frame ever made, and has a flow rate in excess of 5K m3/hr. It will be driven by a 2.4 mw motor and features a 2-m-dia. impeller. The high-flow/-head pump will be installed in a South American mine, where it will operate 24 hr/d with an 110K-mt slurry per year throughput. The largest, single component in the pump, the volute liner, weighs 12 mt and is made from Warman’s proprietary A05 chrome alloy.
