Cement firms plan expansion in AP
Many cement and cement product companies have drawn up plans to either set up new plants or expand existing ones in Andhra Pradesh. Ramco Industries intends to set up an asbestos sheet manufacturing unit at Ibrahimpatnam while Hyderabad Industries plan to expand its asbestos sheet and accessories manufacturing plant in Krishna district.
Meanwhile, cement companies are interested in expanding their limestone mining activities in the state. Deccan Cements proposes to take up the opencast mining at Bhavanipuram Limestone mine-II and Anjani Portland Cement is acquiring 57 acres of land to establish limestone mines in Nalgonda district. My Home Cements is also looking to acquire 81 hectares of land to expand its limestone mine ML-2 in Mellachuruvu in Nalgonda district and thereby increase production capacity by 0.2 mtpa.
