Sintex: Pioneers in plastic prefabs
By A Staff Reporter
The Rs 450-crore Gujarat-based Sintex Industries Ltd, pioneer of a number of value-added plastic products, was the first to come out with a plastic prefabricated range in the country. Sintex Prefabs, manufactured by the Rs 300-crore Plastics Division of Sintex Industries, comes in various types and designs and has diverse uses, ranging from temporary and semi-temporary to permanent structures. They are ideal for erecting schools, kiosks, huts, tent substitutes, hospitals, police stations, offices, telephone exchanges, post offices and even community halls.
Says S.B. Dangayach, Managing Director, Sintex Industties Ltd, "In line with our innovative track record, we have evolved the largest-ever range of prefabricated building structures called Prefabs to cater to all end-users. We have taken into consideration structural, climatic engineering, architectural and other features so that the end product delivers value for money in a short time frame. Our philosophy is to identify a need and then provide a product to fulfill it. Currently, we are laying stress on providing safe, affordable and aesthetic schooling facilities to rural children. We view this mission as a social responsibility." After successful technical approvals and commercial bids in an open tender by the Government of Gujarat, Sintex has erected a number of prefabricated schoolrooms. In fact, today, as many as 10,000 remote villages in the state have schoolrooms designed by Sintex.
Sintex schoolrooms are durable and can be provided with benches, desks, cupboards, tables and computer tables. Apart from being totally safe, they are 100 per cent waterproof, termite proof, borer proof, all-weather proof and resistant to wind velocity of 150 kph. Besides, they are self-coloured, well ventilated and come with pre-laminated interiors. Being maintenance-free is yet another advantage.
