BHEL to set up HEP in Chhattisgarh

The Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd will set up a small hydroelectric project of 7-mw capacity in Chhattisgarh on turnkey basis. The order is valued at nearly Rs 30 crore.
The contract for the 7-mw Sikasar HEP has been placed by Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board. Located about 145 km from Raipur, the Sikasar Power House will be commissioned within 24 months.
BHEL's scope of work in the contract envisages design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of complete electromechanical works for the project.
Major equipment includes two vertical Francis hydro turbines of 3.5 mw each with matching generators, excitation system, controls and other associated auxiliaries. The civil and hydro mechanical work will be carried out by SEW.
