Carcass disposal unit at Chandigarh

PM News Bureau

The Chandigarh Administration has agreed to a six-year long proposal to build a Carcass Utilisation Centre (CUC) in the Union Territory. The project will facilitate the scientific disposal of slaughterhouse waste and animal. The project has been forwarded to the Union urban development ministry for financial assistance. The Administration is reportedly seeking a grant of Rs 3.50 crore from the Centre. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 3.80 crore. The UT Administrator has asked the municipal commissioner of Chandigarh to look for suitable location for the CUC.

The Union Territory will also have an ultra-modern general hospital. The proposed hospital will cater to the healthcare needs of the people living in the southern sectors of the city.
