PTC plans Power Exchange

Power Trading Corporation, a PSU engaged in power trading, plans to set up a power exchange in the country. The company is reportedly talking to a number of prospective partners for this project.
"It would be a little premature to name the partners and the information is of a sensitive nature at this point in time," a company spokesperson said. However, he confirmed that PTC was planning an exchange in partnership with another company, adding, "Towards this, we expect to achieve some significant milestones in the next quarter of the current financial year."
According to company sources, an online real-time power exchange can be in place only over the long-term and while developing it one needs to factor in the capacity of the sector to absorb change. In the immediate future, PTC will take steps such as introducing a bulletin board and trading engine environment.
