Mangalore and Dahej projects
ONGC may appoint EIL as consultant
PM News Bureau
ONGC is planning to appoint Engineers India Ltd as its prime engineering consultant for its proposed projects at Mangalore and Dahej. ONGC is unlikely to issue tenders for the purpose and the appointment will be made on a nomination basis. EIL will help ONGC in selecting a project management consultant and also in deciding the terms and conditions for the LSTK package.
It may be recalled that ONGC is planning to set up an SEZ at Mangalore, close to the New Mangalore Port. The New Mangalore Port Trust has reportedly provided land to ONGC for setting up the SEZ. The company intends to set up an LNG regasification plant, a jetty for unloading LNG, a C-2/C-3 extraction plant, a 1,445-mw power plant and a basic petrochemical complex, including a dual feed cracker and associated facilities. ONGC will use the gas for its power and petrochemical plant; the remaining gas will be transported through pipeline from Mangalore to Ennore via Bangalore and Bidadi, to Kochi and Goa for merchant sale.
Besides this, ONGC is also planning to set up a 1,100-mw power project at Ennore for which gas will be supplied from Mangalore. A dual fuel 4-5 mtpa C2/C3 extraction plant and a 1,000-mw plant are proposed to be set up at Dahej, Gujarat.
