Environmental clearance Paradip-Haldia pipeline

The Union Ministry of Envir-onment and Forests has cleared the 330-km long Paradip-Haldia crude pipeline project. The Rs 1,154-crore project of IOC is, however, yet to get right of way for the pipeline from the West Bengal government. The oil PSU has completed soil investigation for the tank farm at Paradip.
The company has also invited bids for engineering, construction and laying of a 48" dia. 19.75-km long crude oil pipeline/submarine onshore pipeline from shore to the SPM site, installation of pipeline end manifold (PLEM) and calm type single point mooring system (SPM). It is now in the process of preparing the tenders for mainline laying work, optical fibre cables for telecommunication, SCADA and station control systems.
The project will be implemented in two phases: 160-km stretch from Paradip to Balasore in Orissa in phase-I and another 170 km in phase-II. The project will be completed in 2007-08.
