3 new hydel projects in HP

The Himachal Pradesh government has signed an MoU for three new medium size hydroelectric power projects in the private sector on build-own-operate-maintain (BOOM) basis. 
The three projects are: 100-mw Tidong-I HEP Kinnaur district of Nuziveedu Seeds, Hyderabad; 70-mw Budhil HEP in Chamba district of Lanco Green Power Pvt. Ltd, Hyderbad; and 60-mw Sorang HEP in Kinnaur district of Himachal Sorang Power Pvt. Ltd. 
The completion of these projects will generate 980 million units of energy at an estimated cost of Rs 1,150 crore. The state will get 118 million units of power per year free of cost during the first 12 years and 176 million units per year during the next 28 years. This will bring an annual income of about Rs 30 crore to the state Exchequer during the first 12 years and Rs 45 crore during the next 28 years at the present tariff of Rs 2.50 per unit. 
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh dedicated the 400 kW Lingti HEP project in Spiti valley of Lahaul-Spiti district. The project was built by Himurja at a cost of Rs 8.5 crore.
