Rs 400-cr. broadband project in AP

The Rs 400-crore Andhra Pradesh broadband project has been launched which will extend broadband services to every village in the next two years. A consortium led by Gurgaon-based Aksh Broadband Limited has been selected to implement this project. The other companies in the consortium include Railtel Corporation India Ltd, Tata Indicom, VSNL Ltd, INcable Network (Andhra) Ltd, Spectranet Ltd and Nuziveedu Seeds Ltd. 
The work is expected to start in April 2005 and completed by December 2006. The project will connect state headquarters with 10 Gbps to each district headquarters, one Gbps to each of the 1,127 mandal headquarters and 100 Mbps to each of the villages.
