Danapur may get electric loco shed
The Railways is planning to set up an electric loco shed at Danapur, Bihar, which has become necessary following the opening of the Jhajha-Mughalsarai electrified section of the Danapur division. The Railways is studying the feasibility of setting up the shed. Danapur has a loco shed for steam engines that may eventually be converted into an electric loco shed. After the abolition of steam engines in 1990-1991, the Danapur loco shed was turned into a diesel locomotive shed. Multiple Electric Modified Unit (MEMU) trains are likely to be introduced between Patna and Mughalsarai section of the division, which makes an electric loco shed at Danapur even more necessary. Further, the new ECR zone has no electric loco shed except at Mughalsarai.
