New houses for tsunami-hit

The Maharashtra government will construct 2,000 houses in three to four villages in the tsunami-affected Pondicherry. Government officials will conduct dialogue with their Pondicherry counterparts. Each house will consist of 400 sq. ft.
The Goa government will spend Rs 53 crore to build houses, schools, hospitals and roads for the tsunami affected people.
The Kerala government has started constructing permanent houses at Edavanakkad Panchayat in Ernakulam district for tsunami victims. To start with, 30 houses will be built on 1.18 acres of government land. Each house is estimated to cost Rs 1.75 lakh.
