Nagarjunasagar power project
PM News Bureau
The Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited has asked the Central Electricity Authority for transferring techno-economic clearance for 50 mw Nagarjunasagar Tail Pond Dam hydroelectric project to it. Originally, the clearance was given in October 2002 to the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh State Electricity Board. After the unbundling of the power generation corporation in 1998, the state government allowed it to take over the project. Now the corporation also has to seek transfer of the environmental and forest clearance within one year after the CEA gives its permission for transferring the clearance.
The Nagarjunasagar project envisages the installation of two units of 25 mw each in Guntur district. The project will entail an investment of Rs 460 crore. The Rural Electrification Corporation has agreed to give financial assistance.
