Work on Rampur HEP to start from May

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is likely to lay the foundation stone of the 434-mw Rampur Stage-I Hydel Power project in May this year, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh disclosed during the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Rs 1.5-crore motorable bridge at Jhakri on Satluj river, connecting the Pandrah-Beesh area of Shimla and Kullu districts.
Besides Rampur Hydel project, two more projects, the 465-mw Luhri and 450-mw Khab-I, have also been entrusted to Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam for investigation and implementation. The Nigam has been directed to construct these projects expeditiously so as to start power generation in the next three-four years.
Meanwhile, the Central government has agreed on the sharing of fresh equity infusion into Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam with the Himachal Pradesh government in the ratio of 70:30. The new equity sharing formula will be applicable to all the new power projects in the state.
