JV for Muzaffarpur thermal power station

NTPC would enter into a joint venture with the Bihar State Electricity Board to run the Muzaffarpur Thermal Power Station. The corporation will have a share of 51 per cent while the Bihar board will have 49 per cent share in the JV.
An MoU to this effect will be signed soon, and then the overhauling of the plant will be done. The plant has been out of operation for the past one year.
The renovation cost of the plant would be met under the Centre's Rashtriya Sam Vikas Yojana programme. Also, there is a proposal to increase the generation capacity from the present 220 mw to 500 mw in due course. A feasibility report for this is being prepared.
