Sugar co-ops to set up cogen units
PM News Bureau
At least nine sugar cooperatives in Maharashtra have decided to set up co-generation units. The state government has appointed IL&FS as consultants for this project. Cogeneration units will be set up on BOOT (build, own, operate and transfer) basis to save the fund-starved
sugar cooperatives from cash outgo.
It is estimated that through these plants, the state will generate additional 150 mw of power. Bids inviting the parties interested in setting up such units will be issued soon. IL&FS will scrutinise the bids and prepare project development agreements.
