GSPC hires Atwood Beacon

Gujarat State Petroleum Company has hired jack-up rig, Atwood Beacon, for the second phase exploration programme in Block KG-OSN-2001/3. It may be recalled that GSPC had Saipem Perro Negro-3 drilling rig Saipem SpA, Italy to drill four exploratory wells in the phase-I at an average rent of $1,30,000 per day.
The company is currently carrying out Phase-I of the minimum work programme (MWP), and has asked the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons seeking an extension of six months for completing the MWP of Phase-I. In all GSPC is committed to drill a total of 14 exploratory wells in the block.
