— Sanjay Loya, Executive Director, Loya Pre-Engineered Buildings Pvt. Ltd
Loya Pre-Engineered Buildings Pvt. Ltd is a pre-engineered steel building manufacturing company based in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. The construction division was established in 1989 and the PEB division in 2009. Within a span of four years, Loya PEB has built over 3 million sq. ft of buildings at various locations at home and abroad. Sanjay Loya, in an email interview with Sandeep Menezes, feels that PEB can emerge as a preferred mass-market, low-cost housing option in India.
With economic revival in sight, what kind of growth do you foresee in the PEB industry?
Yes, as the economy is reviving and growth is expected to be around 7 to 8 per cent, we expect at least 8 to 10 per cent growth in the pre-engineered building segment.
The initial high cost is one of the reasons for low uptake of PEB in India. Going forward, do you think PEB construction can be made more affordable?
Yes, of course. In coming years, PEB will be more affordable compared to conventional structures since there is saving of time, better quality and convenience. These are very important aspects for any project and other conventional methods cannot compete.
With shortage of urban and rural housing units running into millions, can PEB emerge as a preferred mass-market, low-cost housing option?
Yes, PEB can emerge as a preferred mass-market, low-cost housing option, but it will take time since the mindset has to change.
How does PEB compare with conventional building materials vis-à-vis safety and eco-friendly features?
Pre-engineered buildings are an eco-friendly building solution. We can take all safety precautions during installation with the help of a mechanism system.
Does the PEB industry expect a policy-push from the government and local bodies?
The PEB industry across India expects relaxation in excise duty, fully or partially, as volumes are very high. Also required is relaxation from local bodies’ entry taxes to give a boost to this sector.
What is Loya PEB’s future strategy?
We at Loya PEB believe in providing good service and good quality at competitive rates.
Can you tell us about some of Loya PEB’s recent projects?
