Alstom T&D India, a market leader in the Indian power transmission sector, has secured an order worth around Rs. 180 crore (€23 million) from NTPC Ltd to supply a 765kV switchyard at the 2×800 MW Darlipalli Super Thermal Power Project in Sundergarh, Odisha. The 765kV switchyard will facilitate evacuation of 1,600 MW of power produced by the STPP to the state grid of Odisha.
The company, globally known as Alstom Grid, will design, engineer, manufacture, install and commission eleven 765kV bays and fourteen 132kV bays. All equipment will be manufactured and supplied from Alstom T&D India’s manufacturing facilities located in Padappai, Hosur and Pallavaram.

Alstom T&D India, with its repertoire of high-end, localised extra high voltage products and solutions, is playing a significant role in the evolution of the country’s transmission landscape.”
Alstom has a full range of locally manufactured products up to 765kV and beyond. The Over 50 per cent of India’s 765kV extra high voltage substations are built with Alstom’s technology and solutions.
Meanwhile, Alstom has secured a €40-million turnkey contract from Sarawak Energy Berhad for constructing the 275kV Tudan substation in Sarawak, one of two Malaysian states on the island of Borneo. This project would be completed in phases, over 41 months. Alstom needs to supply the necessary civil work, products, upgradation, and commissioning. This includes a new 275kV switchyard and two new 240 MVA auto transformers. It will also relocate the existing systems and auxiliaries from the present site to the new substation.
