Larsen & Toubro Ltd secured fresh orders worth Rs. 39,797 crore during the quarter ended September 30, 2014, registering a y-o-y increase of 17 per cent, thus sustaining the growth momentum in the first half of the current year, a company release said.

The international order inflow during the quarter at Rs. 6,756 crore constituted 17 per cent of the total order inflow. Major orders during the quarter were secured by the infrastructure, power and hydrocarbon segments.

Specifically, the infrastructure segment secured new orders worth Rs. 19,236 crore during the second quarter of the year vis-à-vis a large base of order inflow of Rs. 21,080 crore recorded in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The order inflow during the quarter mainly emanated from buildings and factories, transportation infrastructure, power transmission, and distribution and water and renewable energy businesses.

The order book of the infrastructure segment grew 16 per cent on a y-o-y basis and stood at Rs. 146,634 crore as on September 30, 2014.
On a cumulative basis, the order inflow for the half-year ended September 30, 2014, stood at Rs. 73,205 crore, registering a y-o-y growth of 14 per cent on a large base. The international order inflow constituted 29 per cent of the total order inflow for the half year.

Likewise, the consolidated order book of the entire group stood at Rs. 214,429 crore as on September 30, 2014, higher by 14 per cent on a y-o-y basis. International order book constituted 27 per cent of total orders.

Meanwhile, the construction arm of L&T won orders worth Rs. 1,576 crore across various business segments in October 2014. Within this, the power transmission and distribution business secured new orders worth Rs. 1,164 crore; the water and renewable energy business won orders including add-ons worth Rs. 304 crore; and the heavy civil infrastructure business bagged additional orders valued at Rs. 108 crore.
