Dr.N.R.Dave_Director_ProjectsMonitorDr. Nandakumar R. Dave, a civil engineering graduate from IIT Madras, worked in government and private companies from 1965 to 1967 till he got himself self-employed as a consulting engineer and builder. He also has an M.A. degree in Sanskrit from Karnataka State Open University. He was awarded Ph.D. for his research on Hindu Science of Architecture and Practices, with special reference of Rajavallabha from 2005 to 2009, at Madras University.

Since last 46 years Dr. Dave has to his credit the construction of many prestigious residential, commercial, community and industrial buildings. He also has expertise in construction of multistoried complexes in continuous areas as well as in repairs and alterations of buildings.

He has written papers on ‘Social aspects of Civil Engineering’, ‘Cracks and Repairs in Buildings’ and ‘Maintenance of Buildings’ among others. He has been a class-I licensed surveyor of Corporation of Chennai; an approved engineer of soundness of public buildings appointed by Collector of Madras; and Fellow of Institution of Engineers and Fellow of Institution of Values.

Dr. Dave was the first director of GERMI Research Innovation and Incubation Centre. He was India’s delegate to The Netherlands to explore possible collaboration in futuristic areas of engineering education. He also visited USA as a member of a government delegation to study the status and scope of community colleges in that country. He was a member of the Expert Review Team for the IMPACT project of Swiss Development Cooperation agency. He was also responsible for conceptualisation, design, negotiation and implementation of the ₹110-crore World Bank-aided polytechnic development project in Gujarat. Dr. Dave was also a member of the evaluation committee of the German GTZ project in Madhya Pradesh, Institution of Engineers (India) and vice president of Hindustan Chamber of Commerce.

He has been awarded the ‘Distinguished Alumnus Award’ by IIT Madras in 1996; the ‘Chennai Gurjar Ratna Award’ by Sri Gujarati Mandal in 2008; and the title of ‘Jana Seva’ by the Jagatguru Sankaracharya of Kanchikamakoti Peetam, Pujya Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamiji, in June 2010. Dr. Dave was also awarded a doctorate of philosophy in May 2010 by University of Madras.
