Pune-based Sahyadri Industries Ltd was awarded the India CSR Community Initiative Awards for their novel, green and innovative technology Cemply Swachalay toilets by Delhi-based India CSR Group.

Matteo Rizzi – Global Expertise & Authority, WASH Household Care, Unilever UK, handed over the award to Satyen Patel, Managing Director, Sahyadri Industries Ltd at the India Sanitation Summit held in New Delhi last month.

Tushar A. Gandhi, Managing Trustee, Mahatma Gandhi Foundation, H.K. Patil, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Government of Karnataka, and Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak, Founder, Sulabh International, were present on the occasion .

India CSR Community Initiative Award is a milestone and an iconic event that acknowledges the unique and extraordinary contributions in the corporate social responsibility domain.

“The recognition to our initiative has given a boost to our commitment to provide facility of improved and hygienic sanitation to the deprived people who do not have access to Swachch Bharat, said Satyen Patel.

Sahyadri Industries Ltd has taken an initiative in this direction. The uniqueness of Cemply Swachalay is that it does not require water, sand, brick and mortar, typically used in conventional construction. Cemply Swachalay Toilet shells can be installed in any terrain and are made up of all-weather resistant sheets. The respective components are made in the factory and can be assembled at the site in less than an hour. Cemply Swachalay is a green and eco-friendly product which consumes almost 35 per cent fly-ash, a waste generated in thermal power stations.

The company manufactures fibre cement roofing sheets under the brand ‘Swastik’, mezzanine application boards under the brand ‘Cemply’, cellulose fibre cement sheets under the brand ‘ECOPRO’, backyard poultry structures under the brand ‘Swastik Kukdookoo’, and Cemply Swachalay in the toilet segment.
