The Ministry of Communications and IT and Law & Justice has laid the foundation stone for a new incubation facility of Software Technology Parks of India in Patna, Bihar. The new facility is aimed at boosting entrepreneurship and IT exports from the northern state. It would also be used as a ‘Digital India’ initiative i.e. indigenous production of IT hardware and software for exports and to support software product startups.

The 8,000 sq. ft incubation facility, to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 10 crore, will cater to the needs of startup companies and young entrepreneurs. It will act as a resource centre for IT & ITeS exporting units by offering infrastructure facilities like ready-to-use modern incubation facilities, high-speed data communication with uninterrupted data connectivity and other amenities required for development and export of software and services.

The new facility would be operational within 18 months.

Software Technology Parks of India, Patna, was established in 2008 as a part of the overall STPI scheme conceived in 1991 to promote IT & ITeS exports from India. STPI, Patna, has created 11,500 sq. ft built-up space. The existing facility is with IIT Patna and it will soon be taken by STPI for incubation purpose.
