ONGC gets green nod for exploration in Kangra-Mandi PEL Block

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has accorded environmental clearance to the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for exploration in Kangra-Mandi PEL Block in Mandi and Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh.

The block area available for drilling operations is 1,828 sq km, out of which land requirement for each will be 1.5 ha.

The estimated project cost is Rs 215 crore. It will provide employment for 30-40 persons in shifts at site.

Total fresh water requirement is estimated to be 20 cum per day proposed to be met from tanker supply.

The effluent of six cum per day will be treated through mobile ETP system and domestic effluent of two cum per day will be disposed through septic tank and soak pit.

The power requirement during operation will be met through three x 1250 kVA DG sets.

The standard terms of reference (ToR) for the project was issued on 22 March 2018.
