K.V. Rengaswami_IIT MAdras_ProjectsMonitorKodiyalam Vasudevan Rangaswami, Whole-time Director & President (Construction) and Member of the Board of Larsen & Toubro Ltd, heads the ECC division of L&T. After completing his B.Tech. from IIT-Madras, K.V. Rangaswami joined ECC in 1965 and has since been contributing to its growth in various roles and capacities. As a design engineer in ECC, Rangaswami was instrumental in designing and conceptualising many innovative and cost-saving designs for project structures, some of which were conceived and designed for the first time in India. He is also an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

KVR, as he is affectionately known, has held many important positions in the L&T organisation as Head – precast, pre-stressed concrete structures; Planning Manager and later Business Development Manager, Chennai Regional Office; Regional Manager, Chennai Region, during which he completed the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and Puttaparthy Super Speciality Hospital projects. In 1992, he assumed charge as Joint General Manager (Civil) at ECC headquarters and in 1994 became General Manager (Civil). In 1998, he became Vice-President (Building and Infrastructure Projects) and, in 2001, he became Executive Vice President (Building & Infrastructure Cluster). He was also responsible for the success of projects like the International Technology Park Ltd in Bengaluru, the ready mix concrete business of L&T, and HITEC City in Hyderabad.

KVR is also on the Board of L&T Infocity Ltd, Bangalore International Airport Ltd, L&T Infrastructure Development Projects Ltd, L&T-Oman, Dhamra Port Co. Ltd, and a number of other companies. He is also a member of the Board of Governors of National Institute of Construction Management & Research. Besides, he is a fellow of the prestigious Indian National Academy of Engineering and a fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, UK.

KVR’s career provides an excellent role model for young engineers beginning their careers. The Indian Institute of Technology Madras awarded him the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2002.
