The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given its approval for the four laning and two laning of the Chandikhole-Dubari-Talcher section of NH-200 & NH-23 in Odisha. The highway project will be developed under phase-III of the National Highways Development Project in EPC mode.

The cost of the project is estimated at Rs. 1,476.56 crore including the cost of land acquisition, resettlement and rehabilitation, and other pre-construction activities. The total length of the road will be approximately 133 km.

The project will expedite improvement of infrastructure in Odisha. Development of this stretch will also help uplift the socioeconomic condition of the region and increase employment potential for local labourers for project activities.

The highway is an important road as it brings traffic from the industrial towns of Talcher and Angul in Odisha on NH-3 and Kolkata-Chennai section of the Golden Quadrilateral. The project encompasses the districts of Chandikhole, Dubari and Talcher in Odisha.
