KBL adds another feather in its cap by supplying FM approved & UL listed fire-fighting pump sets to the historic Atal Tunnel projectMumbai, 7th December: Adding yet another feather in its cap, Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL) has achieved the unique distinction of powering the historic ‘Atal Tunnel’ project with its hi-tech fire-fighting pumping systems. KBL supplied fire-fighting pump sets for deployment along the 9-km tunnel, which is the world’s longest motorable tunnel. The Atal Tunnel situated at Rohtang, Manali in Himachal Pradesh was opened to public use by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modi earlier last month.

The strategically important all-weather Atal Tunnel connects Manali to Leh and is located in the PirPanjal range of Himalayas at an altitude of 10,000 feet above the sea level. The tunnel is an engineering marvel and a distinguished example of ‘Make in India’ success. It deploys the best-in-class technology and state-of-the-art mechanical and electrical engineering systems, which are essential for fire and life safety of the project.

Most countries stipulate that fire pumps meet the standards prescribed by the National Fire Protection Association – USA. KBL designs its fire pump-sets as per NFPA-20 specifications to meet the stringent fire safety norms and at the same time for cost-effectiveness.

KBL has developed the ‘FR’, “FH”, “FF” and ‘MSF’ series of pumps which are FM approved / UL listed and are exclusively used for fire-fighting applications. It also designs and manufactures bespoke fully integrated packaged pumping solutions matched to the customer specifications and environmental requirements. The pumping systems of KBL are manufactured and exhaustively tested in compliance with stringent approval standards set by these agencies. KBL has also developed the KFE series of engine-driven pump sets for fire fighting applications in buildings and industries. Each KFE pump set is factory assembled and tested as per NBC (National Building Code) and ISstandards so you can rest assured that the pumps protecting your precious lives and property meets all fire requirements of India.

All the KBL fire pumps comply with the highest quality standards. KBL’s fire pump solutions include end suction pumps, split-case pumps, multi-stage multi-outlet pumps, and vertical turbine pumps, and pre-packaged pump houses.
