Austral Coke and Projects Ltd, the flagship company of Gremach Infrastructure Equipments and Projects Ltd, proposes to establish a 3-lakh metric tonne greenfield coke manufacturing plant at Sindhudurg, Maharashtra, as part of its plan to become the leading coke manufacturer in the country.
The company also intends to set up a refractory unit in Kutch, Gujarat, and a submerged arc welded (SAW) pipe plant in Saurashtra having an installed capacity of 70,000 million tpa.
"Availability of utilities like power and water will not be a problem at the greenfield coke project site," says Rishi Raj Agarwal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Gremach Infrastructure Equipments and Projects Ltd.
Expansion is already under way at the company's existing coke manufacturing unit in Kutch, Gujarat. "Phase-I of the expansion is over and phase-II of the expansion is in process," Agarwal explains. The Kutch plant produces LAMC with ash percentage of 12 per cent. The company intends to capitalise on the growing demand for LAMC, vast experience in marketing of the product, industry network, and sound technical knowhow of manufacturing high quality-low cost LAMC.
With these expansion plans, the company hopes to increase its turnover of Rs 90 crore by as much as 120 per cent.
The company plans to acquire seven acres of land for its proposed SAW unit. "The site offers access to a large number of users in the western part of the country and also savings in transportation and freight," Agarwal notes. Availability of resources such as raw materials and utilities, and effluent treatment, will not pose a problem, he adds.
Incorporated in 1992 in Kolkata, Austral Coke and Projects Ltd is engaged in manufacturing of coke and refractory, and in import and export of coal. Gremach Infrastructure Equipments and Projects Ltd is one of the largest construction equipment hiring companies in India.
